Teeth and gums form an important part in the total care of people with diabetes. Inflammation of gums has been associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease in diabetes. We have an in-house periodontist (specialist dealing with diseases of the gums) who will see all people with diabetes. The dental department coordinates with diabetes specialists to make sure blood glucose is under control.
